We are pleased to announce that a new event is to be added to the Pace Setter Events calendar. The Dambuster Duathlon which is to be held at Rutland Water on Saturday 20th March 2010 is a new event on a well tried and tested course.
This race offers the opportunity for athletes to test themselves on the same bike course which will be used for both the Dambuster Triathlon and the Vitruvian Triathlon later in the year and acts as a great early season opener for those who want to get a feel for the venue.
Mark Shaw, Race Director said:
“Whilst many athletes have raced at Rutland before we felt this event would give a good opportunity for those who are not familiar with the course but are looking to use the Dambuster Triathlon as a qualifier for the Budapest World Champs a chance to try it out first hand.”
In addition those who are looking to race the Vitruvian later on in the season also get the chance to race on the same roads and use much of the same run route.
We are looking to apply for World and European Duathlon qualification status next season and bid for the National Duathlon Champs so this may also offer a chance for those committed to Duathlon a chance to try out the course before 2011. Under BTF guidelines as a new event The Dambuster Duathlon could not bid for status this year but we hope to see it up there next season so watch this space.
