Rother Valley Triathlon Festival

On the 31st May / 1st June 2008 Rother Valley Country Park will the venue for the first multi event triathlon festival organised by One Step Beyond Promotions, in association with The British Triathlon Federation, The Rotherham Advertiser and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

The festival aims to engage the local community, children and adults, as well as attracting athletes from around the country. There will be 7 individual events across the weekend, the first 4 events on the Saturday, the final 3 events on the Sunday.

Rother Valley Country Park is a fantastic sporting and recreational venue attracting 750,000 people per year. The park is located on Mansfield Road, Wales Bar, Sheffield S26 5PQ. There will be numerous activities happening at the park throughout the festival, making it the perfect opportunity for a sporting weekend away!

Event 1: Scootathlon
400 metre run / 300 metre scoot / 200 metre run

This event will be open to children between the ages of 5 - 8 yrs old.

Event 2: Children's Triathlon
50 metre shallow swim / 3km cycle / 1500 metre run

This event will be open to children between the ages of 8 - 15 yrs old.

Event 3: Women's Only Super Sprint Distance Triathlon
200 metre swim / 10km cycle / 4km run

This event will be totally exclusive for female participants.

Event 4: Community Super Sprint Distance Triathlon
200 metre swim / 10km cycle / 4km run

This event will be competitively priced to encourage new people into the sport. It will also be accessible for athletes with a disability.

Event 5: Sprint Distance Triathlon
750m swim / 20km cycle / 5km run

The swim will take place in the main lake exiting into a transition area positioned by the Water Sports complex. The bike section will use the surrounding roads to the park. The run section will be kept within the grounds of the park.

Event 6: Standard Distance Triathlon
1500m swim / 40km cycle / 10km run

The swim will take place in the main lake exiting into a transition area positioned by the Water Sports complex. The bike section will use the surrounding roads to the park. The run section will be kept within the grounds of the park.

Event 7: British Disabled Triathlon Championships
supported by Wrigley's Airwaves
750 metre swim / 20km cycle / 5km run

This will be the first ever British Disabled Triathlon Championships.
