1500m Swim - 40km Bike - 10km Run
It is a great honour for The Wakefield Triathlon to be selected by British Triathlon as the National Standard Distance Triathlon for the third successive year. This event is the most high profile Championships of the year, over twenty National Age Group Champions will be bestowed.
For those that have completed previously, there will be no major changes with the course. Our only change will be that registration, racking and racing will all be taking place on the Sunday, there will be no need to register and rack on the Saturday this year.
The event is again expected to be one of biggest ever event in the north of England attracting up to 1000 competitors. No section of this event is easy. Expect the swim to be a chilly 18c; wetsuits will not just be desirable but essential. However we think that we have found the perfect way to warm you up, how about a steady 2-mile climb once you have departed transition. We will not go on about this course as being this or that, all we will say is that 'its hard up north'.
Once you have finished the bike section, then you can rest your legs on the run? Whether you are chasing or being chased, the final discipline that uses the newly resurfaced perimeter path of the lake, 4 times round.
Over half of the course can easily observed from the transition area, so its great for spectators. Have you heard the term 'you can run, but you can't hide'. Remember that with National Honour's at stake, these are all the ingredients for a fantastic sprint finish.
