Carsington water is a stunning triathlon venue. A beautiful and adventurous swim route around Stone island, a fast closed road bike route and lakeside run route.

This brand new event includes sprint, standard, relays and aquabike options. We would love to welcome you to the wonderful Derbyshire Dales  for some amazing multisport racing and a fantastic event experience.

The event is open to all. We welcome experienced age groupers as well as first timers. 

The Carsington Triathlon Course

 The swim course is in the heart of the event hub. using stone island for shelter and interest its a fantastic swim route.

The closed road bike course is an exciting, fast and fun chance to race with maximum safety and performance.

The run course is a stunner, taking you across Carsington Water dam with panoramic views across this beauty spot.

Relay Entries

Enter as a Relay Team

Relay teams can be two or three athletes completing the swim, bike and run.

Athletes competing in their strongest disciplines for an amazing overall time or athletes completing for a shared experience, we don't mind why you're participating as a team, you're all very welcome. 

 

Each athlete will need to be a member of the BTF or will require a RACE PASS at an additional £8 a head. 
 

Standard Distance: 1500m Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run

Start Time: From 6:30am

Cut off Time: 11:00am

Standard Relay Entry: £95:00

Non BTF Entry Fee: +£8.00 per athlete for a Race Pass

Entry Fee includes: 

Finisher Medal for each athlete,

Finisher T-shirt for each athlete

Swim Hat, Electronic timing, Safety crew throughout the event, Full support of medical crews, Feed stations, Bike course support, Free event photos. 

Athletes will pass their timing chip to team mates in T1 & T2 after completing their leg on the triathlon.

Two athletes may enter as a relay with someone completing two disciplines in the event.

All athletes may cross the finish line together. 

Mixed gender teams are welcome.
There must be five teams in any category, Male, Female or Mixed for prizes to be issued. Prize giving will be for Mixed gender teams unless numbers are sufficient for extra categories.

General information

Swim course

The swim course will be marked with huge triangular buoys which you must keep on your right throughout the swim.

Bike course

A phenomenal closed road bike course through the Derbyshire Dales. We must maintain access to businesses at all times but roads are closed until 9:30am.

Run course

The run course will be mixed terrain. It follows the lakeside tracks around Carsington Water. 

Transition

There is one transition located right in the heart of the event. 

Arriving at and departing the event site

There are no late arrivals under any circumstances. You must be in the car park way before the start of the race. We use the site roads for the bike course so no traffic movement will be allowed during the event. There is ZERO traffic movement between 6:30am and 9:30am (or the final athlete has completed the bike course).

Bag Drop

We have a bag drop facility for you to take advantage of. Drop off is located at the start line. 

Each race bib has a tear off luggage label. Simply attach this to your bag and hand it into the team. 

This facility is provided so that you can wear warm clothing for the walk to the start line. 

Please do not leave valuables in your bags. Items are left at your own risk. 

Race Briefing

Will be conducted at the race start line. We will cover a few general safety points and inform you of any changes or notable difference to the course. Please be at the start line at the time designated in the final event information. 

Start times

Athletes will be allocated a start wave alongside athletes in their age group. We will have a mass start in age group waves. (the field will be split into manageable age group start waves of around 60 athletes. all 60 will get into the water together and start under a mass start).

Parking

Can be booked in advance for a 50% discount via the event entry system. £3.50 for a day parking pass.

Terrain

The swim is as sheltered as possible. We can't control the conditions and potential swim course changes might be necessary. We will keep it as close to the original planned as possible. 

Bike course is all on tarmac roads. They are in good condition but you must ride within your limits  and allow for typical variations in the course conditions, lose sections, bumps, lumps, wet, slippery or any other reasonable variations in road surface.

What will you receive before the race?

You should receive an automated confirmation email when you register. If you do not receive an email please first check your junk email folder. 

You will receive an email race guide two weeks prior to the event. 

Race numbers and timing chips need to be collected at registratio.

Race momentos 

Each finisher will get a medal at the finish line. You may also keep your personalised race number as a keepsake. A silicone swim hat is yours to keep.

Registration

Open and closing times will be strictly adhered to. There are no on the day entries in this event. You must have entered in advance.

Prize giving 

Will take place at the finish line. Times are approximate and may be moved earlier if all prize winners are present.
